Man Utd star Alexis Sanchez to return to Arsenal? Gunners hero reveals chances of deal
ALEXIS SANCHEZ returning to Arsenal after his Manchester United struggles would not make sense.
That’s according to Gunners legend Robert Pires who has cast his verdict over the Chilean’s current situation.
Sanchez’s career is currently at a crossroads over a year on from joining United from Arsenal as part of a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
After falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho, the star had hoped the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could help kickstart his Red Devils’ career.
But those hopes simply haven’t come to fruition sparking uncertainty whether Sanchez has a long-term future at Old Trafford.
With Arsenal keen to add some wide players to their squad, the question has been asked whether Sanchez could make a shock return to the Emirates Stadium.
Robert Pires though, has claimed the move is unlikely to be on the cards.
“It would be very strange to see Arsenal sign Sanchez back in the summer,” the Frenchman told BWin.
“I don’t see how it makes sense for either Sanchez or Arsenal after how it ended.
“There’s no chance Sanchez will return to Arsenal.
“Sanchez isn’t playing his best football and he is on a lot of money at Manchester Utd which Arsenal are not willing to pay.
“Sanchez won’t want to come running back to Arsenal with his tail between his legs after having a rough time elsewhere.
“He will have to hope he returns to form with a fresh chance under [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer at Manchester United.”
Man Utd: Alexis Sanchez is a quality player says Ray Parlour
Sanchez started the midweek 3-1 win at Crystal Palace after being dealt a blow against Liverpool when Solskjaer picked Jesse Lingard to replace the injured Juan Mata.
The England international was clearly not fully fit upon returning from a problem sustained against Paris Saint-Germain, he lasted just 20 minutes on the field.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have also picked up injuries recently meaning there has not been a better chance for Sanchez to stake his claim in Solskjaer’s starting line up.
The former Arsenal man did score on his return to the Emirates in the FA Cup in January but has only managed one goal in 16 Premier League appearances this term.
