Championship table predicted: Supercomputer reveals LATEST final standings – Bad for Leeds
CHAMPIONSHIP table predictions are often made to look foolish come the end of the season, but these final standings don't make pretty reading for Leeds fans.
Leeds supporters are in for rough end to the season, based on the latest predicted Championship table.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side had looked favourites to secure automatic promotion back to the Premier League for much of the season, leading the way from Norwich and Sheffield United.
However, a poor run of form including dropped points against the Canaries, Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers has seen the Whites slip off the pace.
Leeds are now third in the table, two points behind Norwich with an inferior goal difference, and things won’t get any better according to the predicted final standings.
Football Web Pages have calculated the most likely result in every fixture between now and the end of the season, with their supercomputer generating a table that makes for very interesting reading.
Bielsa’s side are expected to suffer defeats to Preston and Brentford during the run-in while the Whites will also be held to no less than six 1-1 draws from their remaining 11 matches.
This will leave Leeds languishing down in fifth, resigned to the play-offs when automatic promotion looked all-but certain.
Boro and West Brom are also comfortably into the top six while an epic battle between Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Derby for the final play-off spot goes down to the final day of the season.
At the other end of the table Ipswich look dead and buried, with the Tractor Boys only backed to win one more match this campaign.
Bolton are also currently in the drop zone and face an uphill task to save themselves from relegation, with the Trotters likely to be joined by Rotherham in League One next season.
Reading survive by the skin of their teeth yet again, thanks mainly to a slim 1-0 victory over Wigan in March.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United and Norwich will continue to tussle for top spot all the way to final day – but which team is predicted to win the 2018/19 Championship?
