‘Every single thing is going wrong’ - Steve Nicol's brutal Liverpool verdict after Man Utd
LIVERPOOL legend Steve Nicol claims he has never seen the Reds’ front three play as bad as they are right now at the same time.
At this point last season, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane had contributed to 86 goals in the Premier League and Champions League.
However, after the same amount of games this term they have only 56 goals and assists between them.
The trio were frustrated on Sunday as Manchester United held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Old Trafford.
And Nicol says everything is going wrong for them at the same time.
Every single thing is going wrong for the three of them now, including Mane
“Well unfortunately going forward the front three are firing blanks,” Nicol said on ESPN FC.
“I can’t remember them ever being, the three of them, ever being so poor at the same time.
“Salah’s had spells where he didn’t score at the start of the year and Firmino sometimes hasn’t knitted it together so well.
“But every single thing is going wrong for the three of them now, including Mane.
“Last year teams were defending a bit higher, giving a little bit more space in behind, so the three of them had more time and more space. They don’t have that [now].
“Right now the three of them are out of form and you end up with the draws that Liverpool are beginning to pile up.
“The front three, last year particularly, at different periods they lost a bit of form.
“But it seems like all three are losing form at the same time right now.
“And the most obvious one for me is Salah. I have never seen his first touch so bad.
“This has been going on, for me, for at least the last three or four weeks. Everything’s bouncing off him.
“Every single thing that could go wrong for him, is going wrong right now.
“And unfortunately for the other two, it’s pretty much the same.”
