Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge scores WONDER GOAL past Alisson in training - WATCH
DANIEL STURRIDGE has given manager Jurgen Klopp a timely reminder of his quality as Liverpool's title race ramps up.
Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge scores sensational goal in training
Sturridge has struggled for game time this season with Klopp favouring the established front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
It means that despite being fit for the majority of the season, Sturridge has made just 20 appearances and scored four goals.
This week, Liverpool have been enjoying a four-day stay in Marbella in preparation for next week's Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.
And in their final session today, Sturridge was captured giving a glimpse of his finishing quality.
The clip shows Firmino winning the ball back and playing a pass to Salah during a training game.
But the Egyptian is closed down and the ball rolls to Sturridge, who whips a first-time curling effort onto the far post and past goalkeeper Alisson.
Audible gasps of excitement can be heard as those present react to Sturridge’s goal.
And Liverpool fans were equally delighted.
One supporter wrote: “Sturridge looking for that first 11.”
Another said: “Liverpool should never sell Sturridge please.”
And one pleaded: “Save them for the games against [Man] Utd and [Bayern] Munich.”
Last month, Sturridge was coy about his future, with his contract due to expire in the summer.
"I'm staying focused on right now. You've got to live in the present, you can never live in the future," he told BBC Radio 1 Extra.
"I've been at Liverpool a long time and I'm happy too.
“I want to try and help bring the team some success, to win a trophy with them would be amazing.
"We've come close before, finals, almost won the Premier League before but we didn't quite do it."
