Who will leave Man Utd in the summer? Juan Mata looks certain to, and three may follow
MANCHESTER UNITED look set to offload four players when the Premier League transfer window opens again in the summer.
Man Utd: Mata's future depends on the manager says pundit
A mass clear out is expected when Manchester United appoint a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho, who was relieved of his duties as manager last December.
Marouane Fellaini has already been shown out of the door, joining Chinese Super League side Shandong Lueneng last month for a fee in the region of £12million.
Although it’s not yet been decided who will be in charge of the club come the start of next season, there are four stars who look set to join Fellaini as former United players, who you can see below.
James Wilson
Since bursting on to the scene in 2013-14, season, Wilson has failed to establish himself in the United first team.
In fact, since scoring a brace on his debut - which came in a 3-1 win over Hull - Wilson has only played 19 games for the club.
The 23-year-old failed to catch the eye of Mourinho and was loaned out to Brighton, Derby, Sheffield United and most recently to Aberdeen.
Wilson’s current loan spell at Pittodrie hasn’t gone to plan and he’s currently playing second-fiddle to the in-form Scott Cosgrove.
Given his lack of playing time this season and the goalscoring exploits of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, it seems likely that Wilson’s time at Old Trafford will soon come to an end.
Marcos Rojo
To say Marcos Rojo’s fifth season with Manchester United has been nightmare would be something of an understatement.
The Argentina international has been blighted injuries this campaign and has been restricted to just three appearances.
And when he has been fit, he’s found himself looking on from the sidelines watching Ashley Young and Luke Shaw play ahead of him.
Rojo, 28, has been a loyal servant to United but it seems the die has already been cast on his future at the club.
Juan Mata
Another loyal servant whose future at The Theatre of Dreams is up in the air is Juan Mata.
United’s saviour on multiple occasions down the year has less than six months remaining on his current contract and has yet to agree a new one.
Mata himself has publicly discussed the possibility of leaving the club at the end of the season, entertaining the idea of a return to Spain.
The 30-year-old is still very much at the peak of his powers but could opt for a new challenge in the coming months.
Antonio Valencia
The writing appears to be on the wall for Antonio Valencia.
The 33-year-old hasn’t featured just once United since their 3-1 loss to Liverpool in December, the final game of the Mourinho era.
And to compound matters for the Ecuadorian, the win over Newcastle was the only time he has been included in the matchday squad since that loss at Anfield.
With his contract up at the end of the season, it looks more than likely that the winger-turned-defender won’t be a United player come the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
