Liverpool arrive in Marbella for Champions League preparations... who travelled for camp?
LIVERPOOL have arrived in Marbella for a four-day training camp ahead of their big Champions League clash with Bayern Munich next week.
The Reds are afforded their time away from the UK thanks to their non-involvement in the FA Cup.
According to the official club website, the team touched down in Spain on Monday evening and have a double session planned for Tuesday.
Jurgen Klopp and co. will then return to Liverpool on Friday where they’ll spend their final days preparing for Bayern Munich.
Last season, Liverpool reached the Champions League final, eventually losing to Real Madrid 3-1.
Klopp decided to bring a 31-man travelling party with the list including the names of some youngsters.
Adam Lewis, Ki-Jana Hoever and Corey Whelan will all be present in Marbella as they hope to force their way into first team contention.
On Saturday, Klopp’s men got back to winning ways, following two draws with Leicester and West Ham, by beating Bournemouth 3-0.
The performance on Saturday saw Naby Keita, who hasn’t performed to the maximum of his abilities this year, put on a season-best performance.
Klopp spoke about Keita and his importance, after the game.
“You need a good performance,” he told the club website.
“The second half against West Ham was good, the first half wasn’t that good but the second half was really good.
“If you fall into a little hole you have to make sure you get out by yourself.
“That’s what he did in the second half at West Ham and it was clear this game would be the next step for him.
“It was really nice to see that game and see how the people appreciate it. He is in a lot of situations, passing these little balls through a really tight midfield.
“It’s just good. And there’s a lot more to come. That was a good one.”
Liverpool’s full travelling list: Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Alisson, Henderson, Sturridge, Moreno, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mignolet, Shaqiri, Brewster, Robertson, Origi, Matip, Phillips, Jones, Hoever, Woodburn, Kelleher, Camacho, Alexander-Arnold, Christie-Davies, Whelan, Lewis.
