TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: ALL OF THE LATEST UPDATES
13.43 UPDATE: Abdulkadir Omur rumour
Could a late, deadline-busting deal for Trabzonspor ace Abdulkadir Omur be on the cards?
Reports in Turkey earlier this week claimed Liverpool had agreed a fee to sign Omur around £17.5million (€20m).
Ajansspor claimed that the two clubs had “shaken hands” but that an announcement won’t be made yet to prevent any negative reaction from the fans.
The 19-year-old has operated mostly on the right wing the season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
12.01 UPDATE: Jurgen Klopp warned off Timo Werner deal
Liverpool need an adaptable defender more than they need Timo Werner, says Bundesliga expert Raphael Honigstein.
"And what about Liverpool? Klopp's insistence that the squad is now ‘complete’ would suggest that a fourth transition-type forward for a total outlay north of €100m [£86.8m] might not be a priority right now," Honigstein said.
"LFC are probably more interested in bringing in a versatile centre-back with the ability to deputise in wide areas.
"In purely tactical terms, however, few attacking players look as perfect a fit [as Werner] for the explosive style favoured at Anfield."
11.10 UPDATE: Callum Hudson-Odoi deal backed
Former Arsenal striker Paul Mariner is backing Callum Hudson-Odoi to join Liverpool from Chelsea.
"Well I wish I was this kid," Mariner said. "As you say he’s in such demand, look at the clubs that are interested in him.
"All Chelsea fans are saying: 'Please sign, please re-sign for us'. But he’s at the stage in his career where he wants to play.
"Will he get playing time at [Borussia] Dortmund? Maybe, maybe not. Bayern Munich he probably would because they’re going to get a little bit aged.
"For playing time, I’m going to say yes, get yourself moving [to Liverpool]. Chelsea fans won’t be too happy about it."
10.35 UPDATE: Pedro Chirivella free to leave
Pedro Chirivella may leave Liverpool on a permanent basis today - months on from rejecting Rosenborg.
Goal claim the midfielder is free to bring down the curtain on his Anfield career.
However, it seems it will have to be the right move for Chirivella, given he snubbed Rosenborg last summer.
Celtic, Swansea and Nottingham Forest have previously shown interest in the former Valencia youngster.
10.06 UPDATE: Matty Virtue to leave Liverpool
Liverpool are on the verge of selling 21-year-old midfielder Matty Virtue to Blackpool, says Daily Mail reporter Mike Keegan.
"Told there's a strong chance Liverpool's Matty Virtue will be joining Blackpool on a permanent deal today," Keegan wrote on Twitter.
"Two-and-a-half year contract. #lfc #bfc"
Virtue joined Liverpool back in 2008 but has never made a first-team appearance for the Reds.
09.30 UPDATE: Liverpool shelved plans
Liverpool opted against adding a playmaker to Jurgen Klopp’s squad because of the form of one player.
Liverpool were heavily linked with Nabil Fekir last summer, only for a knee problem to scupper a move.
Michael Edwards could have reignited a deal for the Lyon ace this month, albeit with revised terms.
However, Xherdan Shaqiri’s impressive showings convinced Liverpool not make a raid, at least for now.
08.56 UPDATE: Jurgen Klopp wants a forward
Liverpool want a striker but will NOT move for one before the January transfer window shuts, Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor says.
"Liverpool are in the market for a striker whilst acknowledging that probably this window isn’t the best window to do that, certainly not the most cost effective to do that," O’Connor said.
"So we wait a sniff really of an unbelievable opportunity presenting itself."
Jurgen Klopp already has Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Rhian Brewster, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at his disposal.
08.33 UPDATE: BBC Sport man reveals latest
Lazar Markovic is the only man heading for the exit door at Liverpool, according to BBC Sport reporter Phil McNulty.
"Not expecting Everton or Liverpool to be a hive of activity today - on the blue side of Stanley Park Marco Silva does not have big money at his disposal while on the other Jurgen Klopp is satisfied with the squad that tops the Premier League table," McNulty said.
McNulty added: "As for Liverpool. It's deadline day so all eyes are on Lazar Markovic. Again."
Markovic has until 11pm to secure a move, with Besiktas the favourites to secure his signature.
08.20 UPDATE: The one player Liverpool need
Liverpool will snap up a right-back if they make a move on deadline day, says former Red Stephen Warnock.
"I think the position you’re looking at is right-back," Warnock said, before the draw with Leicester. "With Trent Alexander-Arnold being out, Joe Gomez being injured at this moment in time, James Milner suspended.
"I fully expect if Gini Wijnaldum is back fit for the next game, I expect him to go into centre midfield and Fabinho to drop into that right-back position.
"So Liverpool’s problem is short-term so for them to dip into the market and go and sign a player now, I don’t think they really need to."
08.05 UPDATE: Another loan exit on cards
Liverpool could today loan out Ben Woodburn to Championship side Hull for the rest of the season.
Woodburn returned to Anfield earlier this month having failed to make an impression on loan at Sheffield United.
And he will be hoping for more chances to continue his development if he joins Nigel Adkins’ side on a temporary basis.
Goal claim Woodburn is eager to get some experience by heading back down to the Championship.
07.45 UPDATE: Spending spree backed
Liverpool will splash the cash in the summer regardless of if they win the Premier League, claims Manchester United hero Andy Cole.
"They’ll go again in the summer, Liverpool will, because it doesn’t matter if you win the league because you’ve still got to try and better yourself," Cole said.
"You’ve got to try and bring in players better than what you already have to strengthen for the next season because if Manchester City win the league or Liverpool win the league, guarantee one of them is going to turn around and say: 'We need to add players because we lost the league or this and that.'
"That’s how competition gets better and that’s how those players become better players. They will go again, they definitely will go again."
07.25 UPDATE: Divock Origi latest
Liverpool could wave goodbye to Divock Origi if a good enough offer comes in before the transfer window slams shut.
Wolves and Fulham were in the mix for December’s Merseyside Derby hero earlier in the month as they looked to sign a striker.
And while Jurgen Klopp will be happy for him to stay given Dominic Solanke’s move to Bournemouth, a deal could happen.
Liverpool will hold out for a decent figure, though, with Origi having the potential to score some more vital goals.
07.05 UPDATE: Lazar Markovic to leave?
Liverpool misfit Lazar Markovic could finally bring an end to his sorry stint on the books at Anfield.
Markovic failed to deliver on the potential which saw Brendan Rodgers pay Benfica £20m for him.
Spells at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon, Hull and Anderlecht have not helped the winger to kickstart his career.
Besiktas are interested in getting Markovic on board, but they face a race against time to complete a deal.
Liverpool: Origi should stay now Danny Ings has gone says Nicol
07.00 UPDATE: Late Adrien Rabiot deal
Liverpool could make Adrien Rabiot their one and only signing of the January transfer window today.
Rabiot has been frozen out at Paris Saint-Germain having refused to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes.
And Liverpool have been credited with a keen interest in the midfielder, who Barcelona have held talks with.
Liverpool could offer PSG a small fee to take Rabiot off their hands now, or strike a pre-contract agreement for the summer.
