Man Utd news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not done enough to get job - Kilbane
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not done enough to deserve the Old Trafford job past the summer.
Solskjaer will become full-time United boss says Neville
That’s the view of Kevin Kilbane, who believes Solskjaer's sole success so far has bene to get the players back on board.
But the former Premier League midfielder still doesn’t think the Norwegian has done enough yet to gain the job on a permanent basis.
That’s despite Solskjaer winning his first eight games since taking over following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
United have beaten Arsenal and Tottenham during that run, with the likes of Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford shining.
Those two players had looked frustrated under Mourinho amid rumours that they had fallen out with the former boss.
While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got the players smiling again, Kilbane believes more needs to be done to show the Norwegian can take charge permanently.
“He clearly has come in with an agenda just to get the team playing again and keep the players happy,” Kilbane said.
“Is he going to be the long term answer? I don’t know.
“Clearly the board are uncertain from the start. They’re looking elsewhere.
All that he’s done is got the players back on side
“They say due diligence is taking place and they’re making sure they’re going to get the right man.
“At the moment I would say no because all that he’s done is got the players back on side.
“He’s got everybody playing to a way where they can express themselves a bit more.
“We may start to get a feeling with how the team is going to progress going forward and if there’s going to be a set plan for the future.
“He’s certainly put himself in a great position with the results he’s getting.
“I certainly think we are still in a position of a bounce from the new manager.
“The players are enjoying their football, that’s the freedom he’s given them.
“It’s going to take a lot more than Pogba playing well for eight games to suggest that he is the answer long term.
“There has to be a lot more to it than getting players on side and playing with a bit more freedom.”
Solskjaer will look to make it nine in a row when Manchester United face Burnley on Tuesday (8pm).
