Man Utd fans face nightmare after Arsenal FA Cup clash… this does not look good
MANCHESTER UNITED fans are facing a race against time to get back to Manchester from Arsenal by train tonight.
Fans were left furious at the news that the FA had changed the time and date of their FA Cup clash with Arsenal to a Friday night.
The decision was deemed as inconsiderate for those fans wishing to travel from the north.
And supporters looking to return home tonight via train could be hit with a major problem
The last train directly back to Manchester Piccadilly from Euston leaves at 11:10pm.
With Arsenal vs United due to kick off at 7:55pm, the match is scheduled to finish at 9:40pm.
Should the match end in a draw, there will be no extra-time and there will be a replay at Old Trafford.
United fans will have to beat the crowds and queues for the London Underground should they need to make it to Euston.
The journey from Holloway Road takes nine minutes, but congestions around the stadium after the final whistle will no doubt cause delays.
Supporters will have to change at King’s Cross St Pancras before boarding the Victoria line to Euston.
Should United fans miss the last direct service, they will be tasked with the journey from hell.
They can board the 23:30 train which only goes as far as Wolverhampton.
They would then arrive there by 2:10am where they would face a four-hour wait for the first train in the morning to Manchester Piccadilly.
The majority of travelling supporters are understood to have booked accommodation to stay overnight or to have come via car.
Either way, those returning north after the match will not be arriving back until the early hours of the morning.
Virgin trains have already tweeted this afternoon that they are experiencing delays on their trains to London.
Trespassers on the track at Rugby were holding up services which are not believed to be back up and running as normal.
