Chelsea transfer news: Callum Hudson-Odoi seeks Bayern Munich move after Higuain arrival
CHELSEA youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi wants to fast track a transfer to Bayern Munich following the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.
The 18-year-old hopes a move to the German champions will be able to be completed in the January transfer window, claims The Sun.
Hudson-Odoi has only clocked up 61 minutes of Premier League football so far this season for Blues manager Maurizio Sarri.
And the attacking player is hoping a move to the Bundesliga will see him get more playing time.
Bayern see the teenager as an ideal replacement for an ageing Arjen Robben.
When the opportunity to join Chelsea presented itself I had to take it
The 35-year-old Dutchman has been with Bayern for a decade, but was also a fans favourite at Stamford bridge having played for the club for three years.
The chance of regular playing time, Champions League football and silverware is clearly a tempting proposal for Hudson-Odoi, but Chelsea are not keen on letting him go easily.
The Blues want the teenager to extend his contract beyond the end of next season, but the lack of guaranteed minutes appears to be a sticking point between the two parties.
Jadon Sancho has shown others prospects it’s possible to play in the German league, gain valuable experience and even make it into the England setup.
The 18-year-old left Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund and has developed during his time in Germany - so far season he has six goals in 18 league games.
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Higuain from Juventus.
The Argentine is coming in on loan for the remainder of the season and Chelsea have an option to buy the striker for £31.3million (€36m), if they wish.
If the option to make him a permanent signing at the end of the season isn’t appealing, they also have the option of extending the loan deal until June 2020 for an additional £15.6m (€18m).
The 31-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at AC Milan and found the net eight times in 22 games.
Higuain is expected to sign for Chelsea today says Sarri
"When the opportunity to join Chelsea presented itself I had to take it," said Higuain.
"It's a team I've always liked that has a lot of history, a wonderful stadium and they play in the Premier League, a league I've always wanted to play in."
The deal was not completed before Wednesday's midday deadline and as a result Higuain isn’t eligible to play in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg tie against Tottenham on Thursday night.
However, Hudson-Odoi is expected to feature against Spurs and if he has his way, it could be his final appearance for the club.
Chelsea lost the first leg 1-0 and will hope playing at home will give them in an edge in the return leg.
