FC Barcelona: Kevin-Prince Boateng receives official unveiling
Kevin-Prince Boateng has pulled on a Barcelona shirt for the first time during his official unveiling at the Nou Camp.
The former Tottenham and Portsmouth ace has completed a short-term loan move from Serie A side Sassuolo and will stay in Spain until the end of the season.
Barca have a £7.1million option to make the deal permanent in the summer if Boateng impresses.
Speaking about his move, the 31-year-old said: "It's a big dream come true. It's a big honour for me to be here."
Boateng, who becomes the first Ghanaian in Barca’s history, is comfortable playing in midfield or further forward and could provide a solution to the club’s attacking problems.
Luis Suarez currently is the only recognised striker in the squad with both Paco Alcacer and Munir El Haddadi sold earlier this season, although Lionel Messi can operate centrally.
Boateng got the chance to show off his skills during his official unveiling at the Nou Camp, posing for photos and taking part in a Rondo with academy players.
The new signing, who has played for 10 clubs throughout his career, was also spotted warmly embracing Barcelona’s Spanish president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
The 55-year-old will have played a key role in securing Boateng’s move to he club and works closely with manager Ernesto Valverde on transfer policy.
Fans will be pleased to see Boateng getting on so well with the club president, although performances on the pitch will ultimately determine the star’s future in Spain.
Boateng has been handed the No 19, previously worn by El Haddadi, Lucas Digne and Sandro Ramirez.
Ibrahim Afellay has also worn the shirt while Messi and Patrick Kluivert have also pulled it on over the years.
