Man Utd transfer news: Exit backed by Brown after lack of game time under Solskjaer
MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Marouane Fellaini could push to leave Old Trafford - but only if another club matches his wages.
Man Utd: Solskjaer praises Anthony Martial's attacking style
That’s according to former Tottenham midfielder Michael Brown who reckons the Belgium international wants regular first-team football.
Fellaini was a Jose Mourinho favourite.
But under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the ex-Everton ace has found his game time more restricted after being hampered by form and fitness issues.
Brown - who has an ill-fated stint managing Port Vale - says Fellaini could be tempted to leave if the price is right.
Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has limited Marouane Fellaini's game time
He told 5Live: “He’s contracted until 2020.
“It’s not that easy to get rid of somebody who’s not playing.
“He’ll want to play football through, he’s the type of player, I’m sure, that will want to play as much as he can. [He’s getting] big wages now from Manchester United.
“Who would take him? What sort of fee would it be?"
Host Mark Chapman said: “Well he’s been linked with AC Milan, Porto and probably most importantly the Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, so they would have the money I suppose.
“It’s actually nice for a Chinese club to linked with a player and not be unnamed!
“So, I suppose if there’s interest from China then the money would be there."
Brown continued: “Well there certainly would, we’re watching this space with Marko Arnautovic as well, as you’re hinting at.
“But Fellaini, if he’s not for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then so be it.
“Can he go play football somewhere else? Financially he has to be covered.
“I’m sure they’ll want to take him off that wage bill if the can and try and bring somebody else in.”
Fellaini didn’t feature in the 2-1 win over Brighton yesterday.
The 31-year-old is nursing a calf injury.
He’s expected to back in contention in three to four weeks.
"It is sad," Solskjaer said when asked about Fellaini's injury woes.
"There are X factors in different players and we all know Felli's X factor and he'll be working hard to get back in."
