‘This is the real Manchester United’ David de Gea sends passionate message on Sky Sports
DAVID DE GEA declared ‘this is the real Manchester United’ after beating Tottenham.
The Manchester United keeper put in a five star display to keep Tottenham out.
He made save after save in the second half to preserve Marcus Rashford’s opener.
And then afterwards he declared the club were back - after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recorded his sixth win on the spin.
"We won the game against a top team, we controlled the first half but in the second half they had chances,” he said on Sky Sports.
“I was feeling very well with the first two saves, it was a great game.
"I don't even remember some of the saves so I can't pick a best. The manager brought some happiness, the players are playing well and the team is very strong now.
"This is the real Manchester United."
United are now level on points with Arsenal but remain in sixth on goal difference.
Solskjaer has broken the record for most wins in a row at the start of his United career with six.
He surpassed Sir Matt Busby’s five but this result was bigger than the others - coming against a genuine rival in Tottenham.
But BBC Sport pundit Danny Mills thinks one aspect of United’s revival is embarrassing.
“United are working hard and putting the effort in. They did not do that under Mourinho,” Mills said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Forget about tactics, forget about anything else. That is down to the players themselves.
“It's almost a bit embarrassing how, overnight, the United players went 'actually, we're not going to try that hard. Oh, the manager's gone, now we're going to put in every single effort'.
“It's nothing to do with managers or whatever. That's down to the players' attitudes.”
