Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde goes ballistic with one player after Luis Suarez strike
BARCELONA manager Ernesto Valverde was FUMING at defender Gerard Pique and ranted at the player after the Nou Camp side took the lead against Eibar today.
Barcelona were struggling to get behind Eibar in the first half of their La Liga clash.
But on 19 minutes they finally broke the deadlock as Luis Suarez was slipped through and he placed the ball into the corner of the net.
Suarez celebrated with his team-mates after scoring but one man did not doing the throng.
That was Pique, who instead went over to the Barca bench to exchange heated words with Valverde.
As these images show, the manager was clearly unhappy with something happening in the Barca defence.
Pique has been a long-standing servant at Barca, having joined them from Manchester United way back in 2008.
Valverde, meanwhile, is out of contract in the summer but can extend his Barca deal by an extra season if he wishes.
The Nou Camp club want the boss to make a decision by February, in case they need to track down a new manager.
As for Luis Suarez, that was his sixth career goal against Eibar.
The former Liverpool striker has scored in each of his last six appearances against the Spanish side.
Barcelona are currently keeping their powder dry in the transfer market and are not expected to spend big this winter - although they have been linked with Chelsea winger Willian.
But there are persistent reports that Philippe Coutinho could be sold if there is a sniff of a chance they could land Neymar from PSG.
Coutinho made a rare start for Barcelona today as Ousmane Dembele dropped to the bench.
It was the Brazilian who eventually found Suarez for the opening goal after Barca enjoyed some neat one-touch passing around the Eibar box.
