Leeds United: League leaders will be 'confident' for Derby clash
If Leeds vs Derby wasn’t already a highly-charged Championship fixture ahead of tonight’s match – it is now.
Derby have confirmed the man ‘acting suspiciously’ outside the fences of their training ground yesterday has been identified as a member of staff with Leeds.
The individual was spotted in plain clothes watching the Rams’ training session with a pair of binoculars.
Derby travel to face Championship table-toppers Leeds for a televised clash tonight and tensions between the clubs are sure to be raised.
Neither Frank Lampard or Marcelo Bielsa have commented on the incident yet though Derby have released a statement.
“Derby County Football Club can confirm that officers from the Derbyshire Constabulary were called to the Derby County Training Centre … following reports of a man acting suspiciously outside the premises,” the club said.
“It has since been confirmed to Derby County that the individual concerned is an employee of the footballing staff at Leeds United Football Club.
“The club is now in discussion with Leeds United club officials in relation to this incident.”
Derby are sixth in the Championship and a win would lift them higher into the play-off reckoning.
