Coutinho hits rock bottom
Philippe Coutinho has hit ‘rock bottom’ at Barcelona as talk over his future increases during the January transfer window.
Coutinho made the move to Barcelona last January in a spectacular £140m transfer - becoming their most expensive signing.
But a year on and he’s not in the team, cutting a frustrated figure and in danger of being sold.
The 26-year-old was supposed to help replace Neymar and Andres Iniesta and fit in with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Demebele.
But he finds himself on the sidelines having only started nine times in La Liga.
He started and scored in the 2-1 defeat to Levante in the Copa del Rey this week in his first start since the draw with Tottenham in their final Champions League game - when Barca were already guaranteed top spot in the group.
That would suggest he’s firmly on Ernesto Valverde’s B team.
And Spanish publication Marca claim the Brazil ace has hit rock bottom.
Tottenham price up Harry Kane sale
Tottenham have told Real Madrid Harry Kane would cost them a stunning £312m.
That is according to Spanish publication AS, who suggest a Madrid executive opened dialogue with Tottenham over the striker.
Kane is Madrid’s top target as Florentino Perez looks to overhaul the ageing squad.
But they will be discouraged by Tottenham’s response and already know Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator.
Barca ready to bid for Willian again
Barcelona are set for a second bid for Chelsea Willian, according to the Evening Standard.
Barca have made clear their intentions to sign Willian by offering Malcom in exchange.
But Chelsea rejected the first move this month and will now have to decide on the second.
Willian has 18 months left on his contract so a sale would make sense but Maurizio Sarri is loathed to lose players this winter.
Arnautovic off?
Marko Arnautovic had a move to the Chinese Super League “on his radar” a few years ago - but he should reject interest from the Far East to make a step up in the Premier League.
That’s the advice from Arnautovic’s former Stoke team-mate Peter Crouch, who thinks the Austrian is “perfect” for Manchester United.
Crouch wrote in the Daily Mail: "Marko Arnautovic always struck me as a player who could end up at Manchester United and Old Trafford looked like it would be the perfect stage for him.
“Some of you may laugh at that statement but, believe me, Marko has always had special ability. There were doubts about his temperament and maybe that's why one of the top six haven't taken him.
“But the next best thing for him was a club such as West Ham, on the up in the Premier League. They made him their main man, something he always wanted to be, and he has thrived.
“The interest in him from the Chinese Super League, however, does not surprise me. I remember talking to him about it a couple of years ago when their clubs started buying players such as Oscar and Ramires from Chelsea. China was definitely on his radar.
“It would be a shame if he left the Premier League."
Klopp's Camacho stance
Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho won’t leave Anfield this month.
The 18-year-old has been linked with a return to Sporting Lisbon in recent weeks.
Klopp has no intention of letting the midfielder leave the club.
When asked if Camacho would be loaned out this month, Klopp said: “No, Rafa will not leave.”
Camacho made his first-team debut for the Reds in their FA Cup defeat to Wolves earlier this week.
United plot Milenkovic move
Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make a formal offer for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.
The Serbian has been on the Red Devils' radar for some time and Manchester City are also thought to be keen.
But TuttoSport are claiming that United want to firm up their interest in the defender, and will go all-out to get their man.
Defence has been United's biggest flaw this season and the club left previous manager Jose Mourinho disappointed by failing to sign either Harry Maguire or Toby Alderweireld last summer.
Gonzalo Higuain update
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has delivered a worrying update on Chelsea's pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain.
Higuain's brother and agent Nicolas had talks with Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri this week in London.
Sarri wants to bring the 31-year-old Argentina striker - currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus - to Stamford Bridge to solve his striker crisis.
But Solhekol has warned Chelsea fans the move will be a difficult one for Sarri to push through.
"The structure at Chelsea is Maurizio Sarri is the head coach. He's not the one in charge of the transfers, that's all done by Marina Granovskaia," Solhekol explained.
"She's basically the representative of Roman Abramovich at Chelsea. What she says, what she thinks and what she decides is really important. Sarri has input and we know his input at the moment is he needs a new striker and the striker he likes, of course, is Gonzalo Higuain.
"The problem Chelsea have got is the fact he's very, very expensive. He's over 30, he's on big, big money.
"They have to factor in all those issues and work out whether to back Maurizio Sarri and sign Higuain because it will be expensive."
Arsenal transfer shock
Arsenal's transfer strategy this month is a shock to Hull City defender Curtis Davies, who spoke on Sky Sports show The Debate last night.
Unai Emery has revealed he will not be making any permanent acquisitions this month and only loan deals despite his desire to strengthen.
And Davies said: "Am I surprised about Emery's loan comments? Yes.
"Especially, I think Arsene Wenger said when Mesut Ozil signed his contract, the big contract that he's on, that it was a cheaper option to give him the contract because to replace Mesut Ozil you're going to need to go out and pay £50m plus.
"It's the same with Aaron Ramsey, if you're saying that Arsenal are in the market only for loans, to not try and possibly tempt him with, if it is money, a little bit more to keep him and not have to fork out a fee is crazy.
“But like we said if he's not for Unai Emery and his value doesn't really have a value in the team, with obviously signing [Matteo] Guendouzi in the summer, then maybe he doesn't really see a role for him.”
Barcelona deal agreed
Alvaro Morata may NOT be heading to Sevilla this month… because the Spanish club have just agreed a deal for ANOTHER forward.
Chelsea striker Morata is hoping to secure a move to Spain in this transfer window.
Sevilla have confirmed their interest - although are struggling to finance a deal.
And they have agreed a €1m fee with Barcelona for their forward Munir El Haddadi, who will join Sevilla pending a medical.
Now the club have El Haddadi, do they need Morata?
Chelsea exit plan
David Luiz is planning to leave Chelsea and rejoin his former club Benfica.
That is according to reports in his native Brazil, who claim the defender is eyeing a move back to Portugal.
Luiz has played in all but one of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season.
But his contract expires in the summer, manning he could agree a pre-contract deal with Benfica to return there on a free transfer.
Fox Sports in Brazil claim that Benfica is the 31-year-old’s preferred option.
Fabregas done deal
Cesc Fabregas has joined Monaco from Chelsea.
The deal was officially announced at 5:51pm on Friday.
Fabregas joins in a deal thought to be worth £10m.
And his exit means Chelsea can now work on landing a midfield replacement.
Man Utd and Arsenal talks
Manchester United and Arsenal want to sign Yacine Brahimi, according to reports.
Brahimi is a free agent in the summer and looks set to leave Porto by the end of the season.
Arsenal and Chelsea were heavily linked with Brahimi have in the summer of 2016 but Algeria international stayed in Portugal.
But now the Mirror claim Arsenal and United are making a push to contact Brahimi over a deal.
They can agree a free transfer for the 28-year-old at the end of the season, with a pre-contract arrangement now possible.
Sarri in dark over Willian to Barcelona
Maurizio Sarri admits he is in the dark over Barcelona’s interest in Chelsea star Willian.
Barcelona want to sign Willian this month and could offload Malcom onto the Stamford Bridge club as a sweetener.
Sarri was asked about the interest in his winger today.
And he conceded he doesn’t know what is going on.
“I didn’t receive anything yesterday. You have to ask the club! I have no idea,” he said.
“Of course I don’t want to lose him. Willian is very important for us so I think it’s impossible to lose him in January.
“He can do better because the potential is high.”
Chelsea move failure explained
Jan Oblak has confirmed he refused to speak to interested clubs over the summer in order to remain faithful to Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea are said to have triggered the goalkeeper’s £90m release clause six months ago - but could not secure a deal.
They instead signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao.
And Oblak told FourFourTwo that he never had any intention of leaving Madrid.
“I didn’t speak with any clubs – my agent and the people at Atletico do those things,” Oblak said.
“I decided to stay as I saw a good project here, and I believe the best way I can win titles is by staying.”
Sarri wants January deals
Maurizio Sarri has revealed he wants two signings this month.
“As you know very well I am not involved in the market,” he said.
“I spoke with the club and they know my opinion.
“In my opinion we need two players.
“It depends on the club’s decision but I don’t know anything about the market, day by day or minute by minute.”
Howe on Wilson exit
Eddie Howe insists Bournemouth are not interested in selling Callum Wilson to Chelsea.
"I've been told about the speculation, it's not something I seek to read," said Howe. "It's a waste of time for me to do so. It's business as normal, Callum has been bright and bubbly this week so no problems there.
"In my opinion, and it's just my opinion I wouldn't sell at any price but I'm the manager of the team trying to create the best team that I can.
"We desperately want to take the team forward and to do that we have got to keep our best players.
"He [Wilson] is a very important member of the team. He has unique attributes that really complement what we do here. He's been a really good goal scorer for us this season, that's the hardest things to do in the sport so we value him really highly."
Higuain latest
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth says the Chelsea board are not ‘overly keen’ on a deal.
“A striker seems to be top of the agenda,” he said on Sky Sports Transfer Centre.
“Argentine Gonzalo Higuain is boss Maurizio Sarri’s choice.
“Higuain scored a career high 36 goals in his final season at Napoli, under Sarri. However we are told the terms of a potential deal have put off the decision makers at Chelsea.
“Higauin is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus. Milan have an obligation to buy for £32m in the summer. Now Chelsea would have to take over the terms of that deal at and at 31 years old it’s thought director Marina Gr is not overly keen.
“So who else is in the frame to come in at Chelsea? Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is someone they have said they are interested in.
“One source claims they are prepared to spend £50m on him. Bournemouth though don’t want to sell and are under no pressure to sell. He also has three years on his contract.”
Bale wants Ramsey pairing
Gareth Bale tried to convince Aaron Ramsey to join Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old is said to be on the verge of joining Juventus upon the expiry of his Arsenal contract.
There had been a deal on the table for him to extend his deal, but the Gunners decided to retract their offer.
Ramsey is yet to make his final decision but after holding a series of discussions, the Old Lady are frontrunners to secure his signature.
But according to BBC Sport Bale has tried to convince his Welsh team mate to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Barcelona want Willian
Barcelona have made another play for Chelsea ace Willian and are willing to send Malcom the other way.
Barca tried to sign the Chelsea winger in the summer but saw their bids knocked back before signing Malcom from Bordeaux.
But he’s struggled at the Nou Camp and could be farmed out.
Barca are willing to give him to Chelsea if they can get Willian to the Nou Camp.
Pogba swap deal
Manchester United are willing to let Paul Pogba join Juventus if they can have Douglas Costa in exchange.
Tuttosport claim United have told Juve they can have Pogba if they get Costa in return.
Juve are still desperate to get Pogba back after selling him to United for £89m in 2016.
But United are determined to keep hold of their record signing despite the problems he had with Jose Mourinho.
Tarkowski talk
Liverpool interest in James Tarkowski has been branded bizarre - by Burnley boss Sean Dyche.
“There are a lot of rumours out there, and not much fact,” Dyche said on talkSPORT.
“The most amazing one is the Tarky one. That is just bizarre.
“It’s that time of the season, and everyone is looking for a snippet, but there is a lot of phantom stuff out there.”
Arnautovic wants to leave West Ham
Marko Arnautovic wants to quit West Ham after a Chinese side bid £35m him.
The Hammers rejected the move out of hand and insist he is not for sale.
But Arnautovic’s agent and brother says he wants to move on.
"Now West Ham have a fantastic offer,” he said. “It is close to double what they paid for him.
"He wants to go to a new market and challenge for titles."
