Tottenham transfer news: Sky Sports man makes claim about TWO signings and SIX deals
TOTTENHAM are looking to make a couple of new signings this January but only if they can get rid of FOUR players.
Spurs: Pochettino ‘can’t afford’ to continue like this says Castles
That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.
Spurs made no signings in the last transfer window and were widely criticised for their lack of business.
But boss Mauricio Pochettino has made the best out of a bad situation, propelling his side to third in the Premier League.
Pochettino had originally claimed that it would be ‘difficult’ to do any deals this January, but it now seems Spurs will do their best to get some deals over the line.
Bridges mentioned a total of six possible deals when talking to the Transfer Talk podcast.
“They are looking to bringing in one or two but it all depends, I must stress this, on outgoings,” he told the podcast.
“You might remember Mauricio Pochettino being quite frustrated that he couldn't Juan Foyth in his Champions League squad a few months ago.
“This was due to the homegrown rule which is getting more and more difficult as the seasons go on. Eric Dier, because he trained in Portugal, doesn't go down as one.
Adrien Rabiot would be 'a great player for Spurs' says pundit
“They are looking to get the non-English players out, potentially Fernando Llorente and potentially Mousa Dembele, Michel Vorm and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou.”
Bridge then spoke about one signing that Pochettino will be looking to make before the window shuts at the end of the month.
“If - and if being the key word here - they can get some out they will looking to bring one or two in,” he added.
“It's my understanding they've been scouting the Championship. One player they are looking at is Jarrod Bowen of Hull City.
When rumours of a deal swirled, Pochettino claimed he didn’t even know who the 22-year-old was.
The Englishman’s price-tag is reportedly around £15m, but Bridge also said that the north London side aren’t his only potential suitors.
“Tottenham aren't the only club to be looking at him and it won't easy for Spurs to get him in.”
“Let's face it, Tottenham fans have forgotten what it's like to have a signing come through. It's been a difficult few windows but Mauricio Pochettino has done such a great job.”
