Liverpool transfer news: Nabil Fekir claim made - Jurgen Klopp ‘needs’ new signing
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp knows he needs to add a creative midfielder to his squad - and his failed pursuit of Nabil Fekir shows that.
That is the opinion of legendary Liverpool midfielder and Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness.
Lyon and France star Fekir was close to joining the Reds in the 2018 summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old reportedly had pictures taken wearing the Liverpool kit and did an interview with the club’s media team.
However the deal fell through, with doubts over a long-standing knee problem raised at the medical stage.
I think it’s plain that Jurgen sees that’s an area that he needs to strengthen
Souness believes it is clear Jurgen Klopp wants to add a player of Fekir’s ilk to his squad and the Frenchman has once again been linked with a move to Anfield this month.
Speaking after the 2-1 loss to Manchester City on Thursday, Souness said a midfield trio of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum is not creative enough for the attacking front three.
And he reckons that is an area Klopp should look to address.
“I think it’s plain that Jurgen sees that’s an area that he needs to strengthen,” Souness said.
“He signed two and tried to get Fekir from Lyon.
“That would have been three midfield players he would have got from the start of the season, [but] they didn’t get him.
“The midfield they’ve got now are all workaholics.
“They’re not blessed with cute and clever passing, okay when [Xherdan] Shaqiri comes in he gives him that.
“I think it is a position that they can strengthen in.
“If you’ve got that front three up front, all you have to do is get the ball to them as quick and as early as you can and as accurately as you can and they will hurt people.
“But you need to have a really creative midfield behind those.
“I think the defence is solid, good goalkeeper, really good defence, three working midfield players and three magicians up front.”
Liverpool are next in action on Monday as they visit Wolves in the FA Cup third round.
