“We have the best goalkeeper in the world.
“He’s been there for eight years and he’s still a young goalkeeper developing.
“It’s fantastic for me to come in and have him.
“Maybe I’ll have to do some finishing training to keep him in check!”
Solskjaer also sent a message to Manchester United fans as he succeeds Mourinho.
“It’s great to be back home. I promise I’ll give everything I’ve got to get this club back to success. I can’t wait to get going,” he exclaimed.
United return to action against Cardiff on Saturday in the Premier League (5.30pm).
The Red Devils trail arch-rivals and leaders Liverpool by a whopping 19 points.
Solskjaer also opened up on the decision to work alongside Mike Phelan at Old Trafford.
“Mick was the first thing I thought about,” he said.
“I’m youngish, still, Kieran and Michael are young. I rang Mick but he was doing a coaching course in Burnley, so I couldn't get hold of him until three or four o'clock in the afternoon.
“He's been here, done it all, worked with the gaffer more closely than I have. He's an incredibly calming influence around me and his football knowledge is really good.”
