Manchester United star Pogba got his way earlier this week when Woodward chose to bring the curtain down on Mourinho’s mixed Old Trafford career.
The 55-year-old was axed after a series of poor results, but it was his manner in the dressing room that prompted most alarm at the club.
Mourinho was at war with Manchester United heavyweight Paul Pogba, with the duo’s relationship growing worse ever since a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham in February.
The World Cup winner was regularly criticised by his former manager.

"Poor taste, poor timing, ill-advised," Mills said on Sky Sports.
"Isn't this half of the problem anyway at Manchester United?
"The biggest problem with Pogba is, as a commercial entity, he is global. He is massive. There is nobody at Manchester United that comes close to Paul Pogba's power in terms of sponsorship and making money. That gives him enormous power.
"He doesn't need to do that, Paul Pogba needs to get back to playing well and get himself back in that team and start putting performances in like he has done for France.
"Michael Carrick is thinking 'I've instantly got a problem now'. The first questions I'm going to get now is about Paul Pogba.
"He might have deleted it but it's ill-advised, bad timing and immature."
