Arsenal ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan is enjoying Man Utd exit for this reason - BBC Sport pundit
ARSENAL midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is enjoying playing for the Gunners because he feels he belongs.
That’s the opinion of BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks.
Mkhitaryan impressed netting twice in the losing effort against Southampton yesterday.
And Crooks thinks it is obvious the Armenian feels more comfortable under Unai Emery than he did Jose Mourinho.
He told BBC Sport: “We've seen flashes of brilliance from Mkhitaryan when he was at Manchester United so we know he can play.
“However what we are seeing at Arsenal is a player who has been made to feel he belongs at the club.
“His performances - not to mention his two goals against Southampton - certainly look like it.
“Arsenal deserved a point from this game and if it hadn't been for Bernd Leno in goal for the Gunners they would have done.
“I’m not going to penalise Mkhitaryan for that.”
Arsenal fans ‘disappointed’ with Southampton loss
Mkhitaryan’s team-mate Alex Iwobi admitted Arsenal were frustrated at losing to Southampton which saw their long unbeaten run come to an end.
He said: “Frustration that it's over.
“We had a lot of chances to win this game, I believe.
“But we have to give ourselves a bit of credit that we were able to go on this unbeaten run and now we have to start over again.”
Arsenal face a busy run of fixtures over the festive period.
The Gunners face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup before taking on Burnley, Brighton and Liverpool in the Premier League as 2018 draws to a close.
Arsenal currently sit fifth in the top flight, three points behind Chelsea.
