Chelsea ace Cesc Fabregas drops big January transfer hint
CHELSEA midfielder Cesc Fabregas has spoken out over his “difficult position” as rumours linking him with a move away intensify.
Fabregas has struggled to make the first team this season, starting just one Premier League game under Maurizio Sarri.
Although honing his craft as a deep-lying playmaker at Chelsea, the Spaniard has been usurped in the role by summer signing Jorginho.
Fabregas was a vital cog in the 2014/15 title-winning Chelsea side under Mourinho, starting 34 games and providing 18 assists.
Sarri has deemed the 31-year-old a back-up to Jorginho, however, and the lack of game time has seen Fabregas linked with a move away from west London.
It's a difficult situation for me
Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with MOL Vidi on Wednesday, the midfielder said: “I know what my role is. Unfortunately it's not the one I want. I'm keeping it professional as usual.
“I’m always trying to do my best, in the conditions, playing with the youngsters, playing with the first team, even though this year I still haven't played with the full, full first team one game.”
Despite the bad hand which has been dealt to him this campaign, Fabregas is refusing to sulk around the training ground.
“I'm trying to do what I can. It's a difficult situation for me, obviously,” he added.
“I’m playing the cups and the Europa League. I don't give up.
“I’m not someone who you'll see complaining or not giving his all because of that.”
The two-time Premier League winner did not extinguish the rumours linking him with a January move away, however.
“I'll always be there showing my face when needed and if the time comes the time comes. We'll see what happens,” he said.
