Man Utd's Jose Mourinho uses ONE WORD to brutally criticise side ahead of Liverpool clash
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has been asked about his squad ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.
Manchester United face Liverpool on Sunday aiming to put a dent in the Reds' quest for Premier League title glory.
While Jurgen Klopp's side are enjoying a sensational season - they currently sit one point clear of Manchester City at the summit - United are a team stuck in a rut.
Mourinho's men have, simply put, been woeful. Gone are the days of Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United now, as a result, have a very different feel about them these days.
What has not helped, however, is Mourinho's constant criticism of his squad. The 55-year-old, despite the turmoil, has refused to bite his tongue.
Speaking today, the United boss was asked how far off his side is from the team he wants them to be.
His answer? "Far."
One word, but it speaks volumes. Mourinho, clearly, is struggling to get his United team to buy into his methods and masterplan.
Meanwhile, the United boss was also asked about Liverpool's spending.
In the summer, the Red Devils missed out on a host of big-name arrivals with Toby Alderweireld, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo all evading them.
Over at Liverpool, however, and Klopp was given license to spend.
Mourinho will have to 'compromise' January transfers says expert
The Reds made many big signings with Alisson Becker and Naby Keita among their most high-profile.
And Mourinho has now opened up on their spending.
He said: “It’s not just about the money they spend in the summer, is about many things.
“It’s not just about spending money and reinforcing the squad, a football team is more than that, is not just about spending the money.
“It’s like a house, it’s not just about buying the furniture, you have to do work, you spend money on the best possible furniture and then you’re ready to live in an amazing house.”
