Liverpool legend SLAMS Jurgen Klopp for 'disrespectful’ Everton antics
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp disrespected Everton by running onto the pitch and celebrating his side’s last-gasp winner on Sunday.
Liverpool: Klopp’s celebration was ‘disrespectful’ says Nicol
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and legendary Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.
Jurgen Klopp charged onto the Anfield pitch to hug his goalkeeper Alisson after Divock Origi’s dramatic stoppage-time goal.
The German apologised for his actions after the game and has since accepted a charge of misconduct from the FA.
Klopp has been fined £8000 and warned about his future behaviour.
If somebody did that to me and I was on the other bench, I would have given him a mouthful
Nicol was not happy with what the 51-year-old did and says he would have intervened if he was on the opposition bench.
“No, absolute no-no,” Nicol said of the incident.
“It’s totally and utterly disrespectful.
“If somebody did that to me and I was on the other bench, I would have given him a mouthful.”
Meanwhile, former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley claims Klopp needs to control his actions on the touchline.
“It was impulsive but that’s the way he is,” Burley said.
“He will be summoned to the beaks at the FA for sure.
“He knows he shouldn’t do that but as he said himself it was impulsive.
“But he’s got to control himself.”
The win for Liverpool kept the gap to leaders Manchester City to two points.
The Reds are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Burnley.
Sean Dyche's side are 19th having won just two games this season.
