Gareth Southgate praises England after 2-1 Croatia win
England were on the verge of relegation into League B having gone 1-0 down in a repeat of the World Cup semi-final.
But a Jesse Lingard tap in and late Harry Kane strike took England from the bottom of their group to top.
It means they will now go into the Nations League Finals alongside three other teams next summer.
The tournament will take place in Portugal and England boss Gareth Southgate is delighted to have progressed.
"We haven't sat back after the summer and preened ourselves," said Southgate.
"We've progressed. People can see the style and start to believe in what we're doing.
"We didn't discuss relegation beforehand. We just saw this as an opportunity. We saw it as a quarter-final.
“It's great as we had to live with the pressure. If we can get an atmosphere like that we will be very strong.
"We've come out of an incredibly tough group - in terms of form and world ranking the toughest one there was."
