Wayne Rooney SPOTTED at Wembley and gives first interview - I’m emotional as well!
WAYNE ROONEY has made his way onto the Wembley pitch ahead of his final England game tonight.
Rooney: I wish I ended my Man Utd career at Old Trafford ground
The England icon will make his 120th and final appearance in a Three Lions shirt against the USA today.
Rooney has not scored for England since Euro 2016 - when then-manager Roy Hodgson saw his men crash out of the tournament at the hands of Iceland.
And Rooney admits he will feel the nerves ahead of kick off.
“It will be a little bit strange coming back, playing my last game here at Wembley,” Rooney told England’s twitter account at pitch-side.
I have my family here to be a part of it all, so it’s a special moment
“I’m sure there will be a few nerves beforehand. I’m emotional as well.
“As a moment I’ve been here many times but to know it’s my last one, I have my family here to be a part of it all, so it’s a special moment.
“More importantly it’s a chance to try and raise money for the children who so desperately need it. So hopefully we can do that.”
Rooney celebrates every goal he scores by rising his hands to the heavens in tribute to his wife Coleen’s late sister.
Asked if he will change his celebration should he score tonight, the former Everton and Manchester United star said: “No, it will be the same as I always do.
“You never know, sometimes emotions take over. It would be great to nick a goal.
“I’m just looking forward to getting on the pitch. It’s a huge honour for me.”
On his preparations for the game, he added: “Excitement. Obviously it’s a big occasion and I’m just looking forward to the game.
“It’s been good. There are a few new players in the squad, it’s been great to get to know them and speak to them.”
