Man Utd news: 'I want to be Manchester United manager' - Legend wants Jose Mourinho's job
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Nemanja Vidic admits he wants to manage the club one day - and says that is why he refuses to criticise current boss Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho: Man United 'made mistakes' against Man City
Vidic was working as a pundit for beIN Sports during United’s 3-1 defeat to neighbours Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
While others turned on Mourinho for his side’s defensive tactics, Vidic was more measured in his criticism and said he hoped to replace him in the United dugout one day.
“If Mourinho keeps winning then me as a fan, I would not be angry if we win 10 games in a row [playing like that],” he said.
“To be honest, in the future I would like to be the manager. I would like to think that I know things.
"For me to criticise Jose Mourinho, as someone who maybe in the future can become the manager, is not fair.
"He is the manager, he has won a lot of trophies.
“It's not the Manchester we are used to watching, its's Mourinho's Manchester and when he came to Manchester you have to accept that he is the manager who is going to play this kind of football.
"It is the kind of football he played at Inter, at Chelsea more or less, and [Real] Madrid maybe it was more open.
“At the end of the day that's Mourinho's football."
David Silva fired Premier League leaders City into the lead after only 12 minutes and Sergio Aguero made it 2-0 just after half-time.
Anthony Martial pulled a goal back from the penalty spot on 58 minutes but Ilkay Gundogan made sure of the points four minutes from time.
And Mourinho was disappointed not to cap a good week with another shock result after a stunning 2-1 win at Juventus in the Champions League last Wednesday.
"We were in the game until the 80th-something minute and the third goal killed the spirit and morale of the team,” he told Sky Sports.
"One thinking is a bad performance and one thinking is a performance with mistakes.
“I think ours was a performance with mistakes. It is football and for me it is even more football when we have a week where we play three consecutive matches away and Manchester City play three consecutive games at home.
“Our last match against Juventus left some scars in the team.
