Tottenham player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Juan Foyth scores, unlikely hero STARS
TOTTENHAM secured a narrow victory over Crystal Palace – with unlikely
Tottenham held on for a battling 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park with several unlikely faces coming to the fore.
Juan Foyth struck the only goal of the game for Spurs despite a frustrating start to his career in North London.
The centre-back conceded two penalties during his Premier League debut last weekend, but stood up with a terrific display tonight.
Tottenham were without Christian Eriksen in the starting line-up, but their midfield boasted a star display from an unlikely source.
Take a look below to reveal our Tottenham player ratings against Crystal Palace.
Hugo Lloris – 8
He has endured a rough season so far, but tonight, Lloris was back to his best. He made crucial saves to keep his team afloat.
Kieran Trippier – 6
Looked solid and assured before being substituted off with an injury after 24 minutes.
Juan Foyth – 8
An early wobble resulting in an uncertain backpass going out for a corner could have ended his game. Instead, Foyth picked himself up and looked a real, composed presence in the defence. He deserved a goal to mark a top display.
Toby Alderweireld – 7
Alderweireld is always a cool customer. His influence went beyond his own performance – he was a good influence on Foyth.
Ben Davies – 6
Confident, composed, largely untroubled in the absence of Wilfried Zaha.
Moussa Sissoko – 8
A gutsy, hard-working, physical display. Sissoko's time in North London had descended into farce, but he has really shone in the last few weeks. His work rate enhanced the overal display.
Victor Wanyama – 7
Commanding in the middle. Palace rarely bothered him.
Erik Lamela – 5
Couldn't get anything to fall for him despite constant effort. Left the field after taking a boot to the face.
Dele Alli – 6
Mainly involved in a defensive capacity and did very well. Valuable minutes under his belt.
Lucas Moura – 6
Made a top clearance to deny Palace a near-certain goal but like his fellow attacking team-mates, it wasn't his finest outing.
Harry Kane – 6
Kane couldn't pull something out of nothing tonight, but he shouldn't be relied upon to dig his team out of holes. He needed better service, but still grafted away.
