But Sarri wants to keep him at the club.
Loftus Cheek starts for Chelsea in the Europa League tonight.
Fred revelation
Fred has revealed he picked Manchester United over Manchester City because of Jose Mourinho.
"That's true, I received an offer from them [City] and even talked to my Brazilian team-mates who play for our neighbours," said Fred.
"They were trying to convince me to join them, but in the end it didn't happen. Then it was the summer and, as I said, there were other offers, including from United. I quickly decided that was the right move for me.
"Mourinho is a top, top professional and every player likes to work with such a winner. He's also friendly and funny off the pitch, and jokes with us in the dressing room. Jose was crucial in my decision to join Manchester United and I'm grateful for his interest in my football."
Man Utd open talks
Manchester United have opened talks to sign Barcelona defender Jordi Alba, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim.
They reckon the Red Devils have ‘made contact’ with Alba’s representatives.
Alba, 29, has 18 months remaining on his contract but Barcelona are yet to offer the Spanish international an extension.
Mundo Deportivo claim United chiefs have told Vicente Fores, Alaba’s agent, that they would like to secure his signature because Jose Mourinho is dissatisfied with his options at left-back.
Chelsea swap deal
Chelsea star Willian could be on his way to Barcelona, with Malcom heading in the opposite direction, it’s claimed.
And according to Spanish TV station La Sexta, Willian is heading to Barca - and the deal may be imminent.
They add that Barca will pay up to £75m (€80m), however, Malcom could be included in the deal to drop the transfer fee.
Malcom joined the Spanish giants in the summer from Bordeaux in a £36m deal.
Rangers exclusive
Rangers want to sign FOUR new players in January, Express Sport can reveal.
Manager Steven Gerrard is keen to continue his strong start to the season and inject additional quality into the side.
Rangers want another striker, creative player, a midfielder and a defender through the doors at Ibrox in the New Year.
This is despite Ibrox chiefs last week announcing a loss in excess of £14million for the year up to June.
Arsenal hint
Lille attacker Nicolas Pepe has revealed he’s flattered to be linked with a move to the Gunners.
Reports have claimed Pepe could join Emery’s side, however, the winger may cost Arsenal around £40m.
Pepe said: “A preference between Borussia Dortmund, Bayern [Munich] or Arsenal? They’re all big clubs.
“I was not aware of these rumours, although it’s nice.”
