Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal star may not fit in under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool - pundit
ARSENAL star Aaron Ramsey may not be able to play the style of football Jurgen Klopp has made so successful at Liverpool.
That is according to Sky Sports pundit and former Premier League stalwart Mark Schwarzer.
Aaron Ramsey is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season and looks set to leave the club for nothing.
The Gunners withdrew their contract offer to the Welshman earlier this month and have reportedly told him he will not receive another.
Liverpool are the favourites with the bookies to land Ramsey, who has spent a decade in north London.
He wants to play a high-pressing game, high intensity. Can someone like Aaron Ramsey do that for 80 minutes, 90 minutes in a game?
But talking on the The Debate on Wednesday evening, Schwarzer questioned whether the 27-year-old could play the high-pressing game Klopp utilises at Anfield.
“Do you think he has the mobility to play at Liverpool like Jurgen Klopp wants his sides to play?” Schwarzer said.
“He wants to play a high-pressing game, high intensity.
“Can someone like Aaron Ramsey do that for 80 minutes, 90 minutes in a game?”
Former Liverpool midfielder Steve McMahon was working alongside Schwarzer on The Debate.
McMahon agreed Klopp looks to sign players who can play a certain way.
However, he believes Arsenal star Ramsey is the type of midfielder the Reds are crying out for.
“That is a good point,” McMahon said in response to Schwarzer.
“We always look at the high intensity now for Liverpool.
“But I’ve seen them obviously every game this year and they still need a very offensive midfield player.
“Somebody who can take that chance - bang, bang, away.
“They haven’t got that at this moment in time.”
Ramsey and Arsenal come up against Liverpool this Saturday in the Premier League at the Emirates (5.30pm).
