Barcelona 5-1 Real Madrid - WATCH every goal as Luis Suarez bags El Clasico hat-trick
BARCELONA 5-1 REAL MADRID - watch every El Clasico goal as a Luis Suarez hat-trick puts Julen Lopetegui on the brink.
Barcelona ran riot against their bitter rivals Real Madrid on Sunday evening, picking them apart in a 5-1 mauling which could spell the end of Julen Lopetegui’s time in the Spanish capital.
Lionel Messi watched on from the stands with a fractured forearm, but his absence was not damaging to Ernesto Valverde’s side, who went up early on through Philippe Coutinho.
Suarez notched his first on the half-hour mark, but the visitors had hope soon after half-time when Marcelo squeezed his effort home.
The relentless Suarez bagged his hat-trick with two more quickfire goals late on, however, and Arturo Vidal applied the salt which burned Real’s - and, more significantly, Lopetegui’s - wounds.
For all their troubles in front of goal, Madrid’s defence had been equally worrying in the build-up to Sunday.
Those worries were affirmed after 11 minutes, when a simple clipped through ball put Jordi Alba in behind the Los Blancos defence, whose shape was distorted.
The left-back collected the ball in his stride with a superb first touch, and pulled the ball back for Coutinho.
The Brazilian met the ball calmly and slotted it into the bottom right corner to give the home side the lead.

Barcelona’s second was controversial, as the referee initially didn’t award a penalty to Valverde’s side despite a seemingly rash challenge from Raphael Varane on Suarez.
Referee Sanchez Martinez was instructed to review the decision via VAR, however, and eventually decided to point to the spot.
Suarez assumed penalty duties and buried it in the bottom right corner, evading Thibaut Courtois’ outstretched hand.

Thoughts that Barcelona may run riot were calmed when Real hit back soon after the break.
After some intricate play on the wing, Lucas Vazquez threaded a cute through ball into the path of Isco.
The Spaniard hooked the ball into the penalty area and it fell it eventually popped up to Marcelo.
The Brazilian controlled it with his chest and then controlled his volley into the corner.

Real Madrid train ahead of Barcelona clash
Anxiety around the Nou Camp grew without the security of a two-goal lead, but that feeling was calmed when Suarez cleverly netted his second of the game.
Barcelona caught their rivals on the break as Sergi Roberto roamed to the edge of the 18-yard box.
The Spaniard’s dinked ball found the head of Suarez, who instinctively anchored a header from 14 yards.
Though not beholding power, the accuracy eluded Courtois.

Suarez bagged his hat-trick in the 83rd minute, benefitting from a Sergio Ramos mistake.
The Real Madrid captain was not able to clear his lines halfway in his own half, allowing the Uruguayan to gallop into open space.
As Courtois tried to close down the angle, the Barca No9 nonchalantly chipped over the Belgian.
That makes it nine goals in nine El Clasico appearances for Suarez.

The humiliation was complete for Real Madrid in the 87th minute.
Ousmane Dembele produced some silky footwork on the left hand side and chipped the ball towards the head of Arutro Vidal, the Chilean making no mistake.
The result means Barcelona have a two-point lead on nearest-challengers Atletico Madrid, while Real languish in 9th, seven points off the summit.
More significantly, this result may mark the end of Lopetegui’s tenure at the Bernabeu.
