Paul Pogba: Man Utd star slammed during Chelsea game - Jose Mourinho must make THIS change
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho must take the decision of removing Paul Pogba from marking when defending set pieces.
That is the view of Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp.
Redknapp was speaking at half time of Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea this afternoon.
With Chelsea leading 1-0 at the time, Pogba was arguably at fault for the Blues’ opener through Antonio Rudiger.
Pogba lost Rudiger at the corner and the Germany international headed past David De Gea in the United goal.
They’re almost better saying ‘you come off marking, it’s not good enough, you do the near-post space'
Redknapp says it is an issue he has seen before with Pogba and says Mourinho must now remove him from that situation.
“So disappointing. The problem is ill-discipline,” Redknapp said.
“I mentioned about Paul Pogba at the start of the game and what an important role he’s got today. He doesn’t do well enough.
“It’s very simple, you’ve got to stay with your man.
“They’ve gone man for man, Rudiger’s got too much for him, he’s pointing, he’s not concentrating, he doesn’t do his job.
“It’s ill-discipline and he’s cost his team.
“Look at the panic on his face, he’s talking, he knows he’s made a mistake.
“It’s a horrible feeling when you’ve lost your man.
“I’ve got to be honest, I’ve seen him mark man-for-man before. He did it a couple of years ago against Liverpool when he kept losing his man time after time. I don’t think he’s disciplined.
“Jose Mourinho ended up taking him off set pieces.
“They’re almost better saying ‘you come off marking, it’s not good enough, you do the near-post space'.
"Some people can’t mark.”
The game ended 2-2 at Stamford Bridge, with Ross Barkley scoring a stoppage time equaliser for Chelsea after a brace from Anthony Martial.
