Jadon Sancho: Chelsea transfer claim made about Borussia Dortmund ace
JADON SANCHO should reject any interest from Chelsea and stay put at Borussia Dortmund to learn his trade for another year or two.
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former England striker Paul Mariner.
Sancho has risen to prominence this season at Borussia Dortmund, already registering nine assists for the Bundesliga side.
The 18-year-old has more assists than any player in Europe this term despite only making one league start.
His form has seen him rewarded with his first call-up to the England senior squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.
I’m going to say no, I’m going to say not at the moment
Sancho joined Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017 and he has already attracted the interest from other Premier League clubs.
Mariner was asked whether a move to Chelsea would be good for the teenager.
However, he says it is too early for that and reckons he should stay and hone his skills at Dortmund for the time being.
“Too early,” Mariner said of a move to Chelsea.
“I like him. I think this kid, to go overseas and really put his mark on the club to be perfectly honest.
“When you see him he’s good on the dribble, when he’s on the dribble he sees the pass.
“He likes an assist, likes a nice goal, he can finish when he gets in.
“Look, his future is very, very bright but it’s sort of similar to other young players.
“If you’re in a nice situation, just learn your trade, maybe another year or two.
“That’s a big move from Dortmund to Chelsea, who are actually playing okay.
“So I’m going to say no, I’m going to say not at the moment.
“But he’s definitely got a future that boy.”
Sancho has played 19 games in total for Dortmund, scoring two goals.
