Premier League table: Every team compared to last season – Liverpool rise as Man Utd fall
PREMIER LEAGUE standings have radically changed in a year – but which teams have progressed and fallen the most?
Premier League teams are settling into their rhythm for the season with eight games under the belt ahead of the international break.
Plenty of teams will be delighted with their opening results, marking a big improvement on last season, but several will be panicking after alarming early-season form.
Manchester United are eighth in the table following their comeback victory over Newcastle despite sitting in second at this stage last season.
The Magpies are also among the most disappointing sides this season, while Chelsea and Liverpool have vastly improved since last season to breathe life into the title race.
Take a look below to reveal how every Premier League team's points have changed compared to Gameweek 8 in 2017/18.
Promoted teams:
Wolves are flying in the Premier League with their steely defence shutting out their opponents four times in their last five games.
Fulham have experienced a tough start to the campaign, while alarm bells will be ringing at Cardiff following a winless return to the top flight so far.
17. Newcastle: -9pts
Rafa Benitez's team join Cardiff at the foot of the table. Big improvements need to be made if they are to avoid the drop this season.
16. Manchester United: -7pts
United's last-gasp victory over the struggling Magpies has provided some relief at Old Trafford, but there's still a lot of work to do.
15. Huddersfield: -6pts
David Wagner's men appear to be suffering from the dreaded second season syndrome.
14. Burnley: -5pts
A dreadful start to the campaign has subsided, now Sean Dyche's men will be hoping to move up through the bottom half.
13. Southampton: -4pts
The Saints have been underwhelming considering they invested in some big signings over the summer.
12. Watford: -2pts
The Hornets enjoyed a great start, but came crashing down to Earth after a 4-0 defeat against Bournemouth.
11. Manchester City: -2pts
City have drawn one more game than during their opening eight games last season.
10. West Ham: -1pt
A losing run to kick-start the new season saw the club bordering on a fresh crisis, but recent wins have given the fans plenty to cheer about.
9. Brighton: +/-0pts
Chris Hughton is continuing to do an excellent job on the south coast with Brighton sitting pretty around mid-table.
8. Tottenham: +1pt
For all the criticism of Spurs' lack of spending, they have actually managed to improve on last season's start.
7. Crystal Palace: +4pts
Palace are in for a long, hard season but they've started more brightly than under Frank De Boer's infamous reign last season.
6. Everton: +4pts
It remains to be seen which Everton is the real Everton after a mixed bag of wins, draws and losses, but recent signs are positive.
5. Arsenal: +5pts
Two early defeats have been forgotten after six consecutive league victories for Unai Emery's men.
4. Leicester: +6pts
Like Everton, it's hard to get an accurate measure on Leicester after four wins and four defeats without any draws so far.
3. Liverpool: +7pts
The Reds have bounced back from their Champions League Final defeat in style. They are tied at the top.
2. Chelsea: +7pts
Eden Hazard's stunning form has fired Chelsea into a shock title race position. If Maurizio Sarri's men can keep up the pace, they could go far.
1. Bournemouth: +12pts
Eddie Howe's team look sharper than ever before, with Josh King and Callum Wilson wreaking havoc up front.
