Man Utd news - Glazers make Mourinho decision
Manchester United’s owners, the Glazer family, have reportedly moved to dampen talk of the club axing Mourinho.
With last night’s draw against Valencia coming after defeats to West Ham, Derby, Brighton and Tottenham, talk of the 55-year-old leaving has reached fever pitch.
However, ESPN claim that Manchester United’s owners are backing Mourinho to come good.
And, at present, it seems as though the club will be persevering until Champions League qualification becomes mathematically impossible.
Zidane not first choice
Zinedine Zidane is NOT Manchester United’s top choice to replace Jose Mourinho, it has been claimed.
The Frenchman is the bookies’ favourite to take over should Mourinho’s head roll.
Yet the Independent claim the club would instead prefer to prise Mauricio Pochettino away from Tottenham.
Spurs would likely pull out all the stops to ensure they keep hold of their manager.
But, if United come calling, they may face losing Pochettino to Old Trafford.
Giggs job backed
Graeme Souness has urged Manchester United to replace Jose Mourinho with Ryan Giggs.
Giggs is just two games into his career as Wales boss - but Souness thinks the Old Trafford legend would steady a sinking ship.
He said: “I wouldn’t go with Zidane.
“I don’t think they want another big one given a short space of time to get it right.
“If I was having a say, I would be looking at, sounds daft, Ryan Giggs.
“Someone that will be given more time going forward to get it right.
Paul Scholes: Jose Mourinho is embarrassing Manchester United
“It doesn’t have to be a spending splurge again.
“It has to be someone this time round that will be given time because of his affection and his history with the football club.
“They’ve tried Van Gaal, they’ve tried Moyes, who knew his way in the Premier League.
“They’ve gone for arguably the biggest name in Mourinho and it’s been an unmitigated disaster just spending big money chasing it.
“And that’s when you make mistakes.”
