Arsenal team news: Predicted Arsenal line up vs Watford – Ramsey doubt, Welbeck to start?
ARSENAL manager Unai Emery has a selection headache ahead of the Gunners' next Premier League match against Watford on Saturday (3pm).
Emery teases Danny Welbeck starting Watford game
Arsenal are back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on Watford at the Emirates, with Unai Emery expected to make several changes from the midweek win over Brentford.
The Gunners booked their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a comfortable 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette.
Emery fielded a much-changed side against the Bees but is expected to revert back to his preferred starting XI as Arsenal seek their fifth win of the season.
Welbeck’s brace has pushed him into contention for a surprise start, although Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been preferred so far this season.
The England international is yet to start a league match this campaign but did score after coming on as a substitute against West Ham last month.
Speaking after the win over Brentford, Emery said: “Tonight, it's a good performance from every player and also Danny Welbeck, he worked with two goals, helping us.
“And for Saturday, he's also another player that I can try, to help the first XI because he's doing very well, with a big commitment.
“But also, I want the first XI with the performance and I want other players [on the bench], when I am looking back I want to see good players looking forward to help the game for us.”
Arsenal fan SLAMS Bernd Leno despite beating Brentford
Emery’s comments suggest Welbeck will have to be content with a spot on the bench against the Hornets despite his recent goalscoring form.
Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi are also expected to drop out in favour of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey – although the Welshman is a doubt after contract talks broke down this week.
Petr Cech should replace Bernd Leno in goal, Hector Bellerin and Sokratis Papastathopoulos will return in defence and both Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka are expected to start.
Laurent Koscielny remains unavailable as he recovers from an Achilles injury while Ainsley Maitland-Niles is still out with a fractured leg.
