Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah reveals the reason he fell in love with Reds
LIVERPOOL hero Mohamed Salah has revealed the reason he fell in love with the club back in 2005.
The Reds star is well on his way to earning legendary status at Anfield after a stunning debut season in which he netted 44 goals.
Salah also helped guide Liverpool to the Champions League final, where they were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid after the attacker came off injured in the first half.
The Egyptian had previously played in the Premier League with Chelsea.
But Salah admits he has always had a soft spot for Liverpool, all thanks to the video game FIFA.
When I played FIFA, I always chose Liverpool in 2005
“It was special to me even though I was very young,” he told France Football.
"When I played FIFA, I always chose Liverpool in 2005.
“I always used to put Steven Gerrard up front because he had a massive shot.
“Then I had Jerzy Dudek in goal and of course Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia in defence.
“But I also played with Liverpool before 2005 on my console.”
Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005 after pulling off a stunning comeback against AC Milan in Istanbul.
Salah and co. have the chance to show their European credentials this evening when PSG travel to Anfield for their first group stage game of the competition.
The former Roma star has this week been accused of not getting along with co-stars Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino off the field.
But Salah was quick to dispel those rumours.
“We are friends, we speak a lot,” he added.
“Generally, all three of us sit in the dressing room together, right after matches.
“There is a real solidarity between us, as we do not care who scores the most or first.”
Liverpool's first Champions League game of the season takes place this evening at 8pm against PSG.
