Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star’s agent SLAMS Luka Modric decision
CRISTIANO RONALDO missed out to Luka Modric for the UEFA Best Player of the Year tonight - and agent Jorge Mendes is not happy.
Ronaldo helped Real Madrid win the Champions League for a third straight year in May.
However, Modric was also integral to the side winning a record 13th European Cup.
Modric also helped Croatia reach the final of the World Cup, where they lost to France 4-2, this summer.
He was presented with the award at the Champions League group stage draw in Monaco, with Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah the other two players nominated.
It is ridiculous, he is the best in his position
And Ronaldo’s agent Mendes is furious his client was not voted the winner.
“Football is played within the four lines and Cristiano Ronaldo has won,” Mendes told Portuguese newspaper Record.
“He scored 15 goals, leading Real Madrid and winning the Champions League once again.
“It is ridiculous, he is the best in his position.”
Cristiano Ronaldo moved from Real to Juventus in the summer in a deal worth £105m.
He signed a four-year contract in Turin worth £106m.
Modric was also linked with a move to Italy during the transfer window, with Inter keen on his services.
But the San Siro giants never made a serious offer after gauging Real’s determination to keep the Croatian playmaker.
