That is the verdict of Match of the Day 2 pundit Ruud Gullit, who watched Morata fail to have an impact.
Chelsea maintained their 100 per cent win record in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory away to Newcastle.
Eden Hazard and a DeAndre Yedlin strike proved to be the difference between the two sides on Tyneside as Rafael Benitez played with five defenders at the back.
Morata - who struggled last term - produced another subdued display as he fired blanks.
And Gullit has explained why he feels a degree of sympathy for the Spaniard.
“I feel sorry for Morata,” Gullit said.
“With the possession they had at times (80 per cent) you can’t score goals.
“You need to have players like Morata high up the pitch as all of a sudden he will get crosses.

“In the first half, he was hesitating and he got more possibilities in the second.
“Willian came in and played on the outside and helped stretch the opposition.
“When Hazard is injured, you will play like this all the time, because he’s the only one who can play in tight spaces.”
Meanwhile, Maurizio Sarri admitted it came as a bit of a surprise as to the way the Magpies set up.
