Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star makes home debut against Lazio – best pictures
CRISTIANO RONALDO has made his first home appearance for Juventus at the Allianz Stadium.
Cristiano Ronaldo has made his first home appearance for Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in a clash with Lazio in Serie A.
The Portuguese superstar emerged from the tunnel to rapturous applause inside the 41,500-capacity arena as the teams entered the field.
Ronaldo made his full debut for the club in a 3-2 victory over Chievo last week, but today gets his first taste of the home atmosphere in a black and white shirt.
It is the former Real Madrid hero's first game at the stadium since scoring a stunning overhead kick for Los Blancos in the Champions League last season.
Juventus fans rose from their seats to applaud Ronaldo's moment of magic, and he has since admitted that warm reception swayed his decision to move to Italy.
He said: "The small details make the big difference at the end of the day so I would say what I saw in the stadium helped [the transfer]."
Ronaldo started the game on the left side of the front trio in a 4-3-3 formation, but switched with Mario Mandzukic to play through the middle.
He is yet to score for his new club, and fans will be desperate to see him get off the mark on home soil.
The 33-year-old bagged 44 goals in 44 games across all competitions for Real Madrid last season, and will be hoping to maintain the prolific form displayed throughout his career.
He ended up scoring 450 goals for the La Liga giants in 438 games, and Juventus will be hoping for a strong return on their £105million investment.
Ronaldo will be desperate to knock home his first goal for Juventus – but can he do it today against Lazio?
