- Liverpool have rejected a bid of £2bn from the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour
- Dean Saunders claims no Manchester United player would get into Jurgen Klopp's side this season, apart from potentially David De Gea
- Nabil Fekir is struggling to come to terms with his failed move to Liverpool as he prepares to play for Lyon in Ligue 1 this weekend
Liverpool rejected a £2billion takeover bid from a cousin of Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour, it has been claimed.
The Reds' current owners FSG are said to have been approached by Sheik Khaled twice over the past 12 months.
The Daily Mail claim Liverpool's owners heard from Sheik Khaled in late 2017 and then again in early 2018.
He made a £2bn offer to take full control of Liverpool in what would have been the most expensive takeover in football history.
But Liverpool’s American owners rejected the approach - although they are said to be seeking minor investment.
Manchester United don’t have a single player that would get into Liverpool’s starting lineup, Dean Saunders claims.
The former Reds star has been highly critical of United, claiming apart from David De Gea, there isn’t an Old Trafford star who would get in Jurgen Klopp's starting XI.
“Would any of their players get in Liverpool’s team?” Saunders told talkSPORT.
“I’m not Man United bashing, and I haven’t picked Liverpool because I used to play for them, I’ve picked them because they are one of the top teams this year.
“United have spent £711m since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, and they probably have not got one player who is a certainty to get into Liverpool’s team.
“De Gea over Alisson? Maybe. [Paul] Pogba? Possibly, but with the disruption he is causing, I don’t know whether I would have him.
“Liverpool have spent as well, but they have spent wisely and they are going in the right direction."
Nabil Fekir returns to Lyon training ahead of new season
Lyon boss Bruno Genesio admits Nabil Fekir has found it hard to deal with his failed Liverpool move.
The World Cup winner has returned to Lyon and could appear in Ligue 1 for the first time this season when his side face Strasbourg on Friday.
And Genesio has revealed Fekir's response to missing out on a move to Liverpool over the summer.
"It is never easy accepting this kind of situation, when you are very near to signing for a club where you want to go," he said.
"Where you want to reach another level and to give a boost to your career.
"But as I said, it could have been worse for him.
"He is at Lyon, at a strong club, he is captain of a team who plays in the Champions League."
