Arsenal news: Ray Parlour reveals who he wants to replace Unai Emery
ARSENAL legend Ray Parlour is hopeful his former team-mate Thierry Henry will one day replace Unai Emery at the Emirates.
Thierry Henry needs managerial experience says Steve Claridge
Emery was only appointed as the Arsenal boss at the end of last season after Arsene Wenger left the club.
Henry, who is the Gunners’ all-time leading goalscorer with 228 goals, was one of many names linked to the Emirates job.
But his lack of managerial experience most likely counted against him.
Henry has spent the last two seasons as an assistant to Roberto Martinez at Belgium, helping them reach the World Cup semi-final this summer.
I’m hoping one day, who knows, he’s back at Arsenal as manager, looking forward down the line
He is heavily linked with replacing Gus Poyet at Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.
Parlour reckons Bordeaux would be a great start to Henry’s managerial career.
But one day he would like to see him return to the club he spent nine years at.
“Great guy, very intelligent, knows his football so well,” Parlour told Sky Sports.
“You see he’s had that experience at the World Cup with Martinez at Belgium.
“He’s just waiting for that right time now to get the right job.
“That would be a great start for him, a big club like Bordeaux.
“I’m hoping one day, who knows, he’s back at Arsenal as manager, looking forward down the line.
“Patrick Vieira as well, he’s at Nice.
“That (Bordeaux) will be a great move for him (Henry).
“Whatever decision he makes going forward, I’m sure he will be successful.”
