Kevin De Bruyne attends premiere using crutches following injury
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is using crutches and a knee brace after suffering an injury in training today.
The 27-year-old star picked up a suspected knee ligament problem following an incident in training at City’s facilities.
He has undergone tests to discover the extent of the injury, though initial reports suggest he could be sidelined for up to three months.
De Bruyne still made an appearance in Manchester city centre for the premiere of Amazon Prime documentary All Or Nothing which follows the Premier League champions’ 2017/18 title-winning campaign.
The Belgian was popular with the crowd who had gathered outside of The Printworks, though he walked with a limp on the blue carpet.
De Bruyne - joined by fellow stars including Fabian Delph and Aymeric Laporte – will soon jet out to Barcelona for further tests as he begins the recovery process.
It is not the first time De Bruyne has suffered a serious knee injury, with the City midfielder missing 10 weeks of action in 2016.
De Bruyne’s studs were caught in the Etihad turf against Everton, jarring his knee as a result, in a similar incident to his current injury.
City fans will take some confidence from the fact that De Bruyne is mobile and walking so soon after the training session, but the crutches and knee brace suggest a spell on the sidelines.
A City statement read: “Kevin De Bruyne is undergoing tests on his right knee after sustaining an injury at training on Wednesday.
"The extent of the problem is not yet known and we will bring you further updates on Kevin's condition in due course.”
