Chelsea transfers
Chelsea have enjoyed a fruitful end to the transfer window with two done deals already wrapped up within the last 24 hours.
Keep Arrizabalaga has joined from Athletic Madrid in a world record £71.6m deal for a goalkeeper.
Mateo Kovacic has also joined the club from Real Madrid in loan.
But how many more deals can we expect today? Chelsea are still working on moves in and out of the club, it is believed.
Here’s what we know as the 5pm transfer deadline looms.
Thibaut Courtois has joined Real Madrid today. The deal has cost Real £35m and ends a transfer saga that has rumbled on for more than 12 months.
"Today I am realising a dream," said Courtois, whose departure from Chelsea sees Mateo Kovacic move in the opposite direction on loan.
Other deals expected to go through include Tiemoue Bakayoko to AC Milan.
Now, talks are progressing well on that transfer and it was hoped it would be wrapped up today.
But with Italy’s transfer window not closing until later in August, a deal can be struck past the Premier League’s 5pm deadline.
The current hurdle over Bakayoko money. Milan want him on loan with an option to buy next summer. Chelsea are open to that but want at least £27m for the player 12 months down the line.
Milan also insist they need help covering Bakayoko’s wages during the loan.
Crystal Palace want to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek, while Valencia are keen to land Michy Batshuayi on loan.
Kurt Zouma, who emerged as a Manchester United target last night, could be heading to Everton.
Danny Drinkwater is also tipped to leave Chelsea but there is yet to be a bid made on the ex-Leicester star.
Former Chelsea player Dennis Wise said earlier today: “They’ve got a fair few in that position that can play there.
“So it’s a fight for places, it really is.
“It will be interesting whether or not we see one or two Chelsea midfield players go by the end of today, you never know.
“And Europe goes on for another couple of weeks, it could still happen.
“Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater. I think they won’t feature too much.”
