Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star left Real Madrid back in July (Image: GETTY)
Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid in a £105million transfer last month, turning his back on the La Liga giants after nine successful years at the Bernabeu.
It has been a tough start for new Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui, who has also had to contend with talk of a move to Manchester United for Gareth Bale.
Modric is another player being tipped to leave with Inter Milan keen on pairing the Real star with former Roma bulldozer Radja Nainggolan, who signed on the San Siro earlier this summer.
But Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure has supposedly forced Real to do their utmost to keep the 32-year-old.
Spanish newspaper Marca claim the club are concerned about Modric following Ronaldo out of the exit door.
And they are supposedly readying a big new contract to stop the Croatia international from jumping ship.
Since Ronaldo left, Real have sold more Modric shirts than any other player.
Despite having won four Champions League titles, the veteran’s stock is at an all-time high after his stellar performances at the World Cup in Russia.

Marca say Florentino Perez wants to offer Modric an improvement on his £7.2million-a-year wages.
And a meeting today is set to determine whether or not the player stays put.
Real feel Modric owes them respect because of their willingness to hand him a pay hike.
And they reckon fans will not take too kindly to the player leaving, particularly after Ronaldo’s exit.
