Mercedes have reportedly completed the signing of 16-year-old Ethan Jeff-Hall for their junior team ahead of the 2025 campaign. The teenager followed in the footsteps of Lando Norris last year, becoming the world karting champion.

Jeff-Hall clinched the CIK-FIA World Championship on the final lap of the season finale in 2024, etching his name into the history books. Norris won the honour in 2014, while Nyck de Vries and Vitantonio Liuzzi are among the other former champions to have graced the F1 grid.

According to a report from Formula Scout, Jeff-Hall has joined the Mercedes junior programme for the 2025 season onwards as he prepares for his first year in single-seaters. The 16-year-old will compete in the British Formula Four championship with Argenti Motorsport.

When news of his step-up was confirmed in late 2024, Jeff-Hall said: “Heading into the 2025 British F4 season with Argenti Motorsport, I’m excited and ready to face the challenge. Winning championships like Ginetta Juniors and the FIA World Karting title has taught me a lot about consistency, adaptability, and handling pressure at the highest level.

“I know British F4 is a big step up, but I feel confident that my previous experiences will help me quickly adapt to the car and the competition. I’m eager to learn, push myself, and aim for strong results from the start. It’s a new chapter, and I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got.”

Jeff-Hall joins a star-studded cast in the Mercedes junior programme. Kenzo Craigie clinched the junior world karting crown in 2024 and remains in the academy, as does runner-up James Anagnostiadis.

Female prodigy Luna Fluxa is also in the team’s line-up for 2025. At the Formula Four level, Alex Powell continues to represent Mercedes, having joined the set-up in 2019, while Chinese prospect Yuanpu Cui remains with the Brackley-based team after representing Argenti Motorsport last term.

Doriane Pin is the team representative in F1 Academy and is targeting the title after losing out to Abbi Pulling in 2024.

For Jeff-Hall, there is reason to believe that he can eventually represent the Silver Arrows on the F1 grid. Mercedes have shown an unwavering commitment to developing their junior drivers, and their 2025 pairing of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell both graduated through the feeder series ranks with the team.
