Eddie Jordan is reportedly set to earn a little over £4million in commission for brokering a deal for client Adrian Newey to join an undisclosed Formula One team. It is claimed that Red Bull’s chief technical officer has found a new employer having decided to quit his current team at the start of next year.

Newey’s future was the subject of intense speculation earlier this year. Red Bull eventually announced that the experienced technician would depart in the first quarter of 2025.

According to Business F1 Magazine, Newey has signed a huge £82m deal with an unnamed F1 team. Jordan, who was surprisingly revealed as Newey’s manager several months ago, is reportedly set to benefit from the move.

The report claims that Jordan will earn £4m in commission from helping Newey complete the deal. The 76-year-old also helped to negotiate Newey’s impending exit from Red Bull, which will be completed in the first quarter of 2025.

It is unclear which team Newey is set to join. However, it is claimed that Ferrari currently lead the race to appoint F1’s most highly-rated technician.

Mercedes, Williams and McLaren have also expressed an interest in hiring the 65-year-old. A move to Ferrari would see Newey work alongside Lewis Hamilton, whose switch from Mercedes will be completed at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Jordan revealed that Red Bull team principal Christian Horner dubbed him the ‘silent assassin’. Not even key figures inside motorsport knew Jordan was representing Newey, nor that he was negotiating his client’s exit from Red Bull.

“Christian, do you know what he called me – do you know what he called me when he found this,” Jordan told the Formula For Success podcast.

“First of all, his jaw was somewhere around near the end of his trousers. It’s quite a big jaw in the first place. But he called me, ‘Ah, EJ, you’re a f****** silent assassin.”

Fans only learned that Jordan was managing Newey when the latter wrote in a statement in April: “On a personal note, I would also like to thank the shareholders, the late Dietrich Mateschitz, Mark Mateschitz and Chalerm Yoovidhya for their unwavering support during my time at Red Bull.

“Christian, who has not only been my business partner but also a friend of our respective families. Also, thanks to Oliver Mintzlaff for his stewardship and Eddie Jordan, my close friend and manager."
