Oliver Bearman is reportedly set to join Haas for the 2025 season after impressing the American team with his sensational debut performance at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix earlier this year.

The 19-year-old Brit scored six points when standing in for the stricken Carlos Sainz in Jeddah, finishing ahead of both Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris in his first race as a Ferrari driver.

Bearman will now get the chance to demonstrate his talent on a regular basis. According to a Mail Sport report, he has signed for Haas and will pocket between £250,000 and £300,000 per year.

The Essex-born teenager is the crown jewel in Ferrari's driver academy and is seen as the long-term successor to Hamilton, who was signed by Fred Vasseur at the beginning of February.

While not confirmed, Bearman is expected to retain his Ferrari connections during his upcoming stint at Haas in a similar manner to Mick Schumacher, who drove for the North Carolina-based outfit in 2021 and 2022.

Bearman's move to Haas has been F1's worst-kept secret in 2024. The teenager was lined up for six FP1 sessions - four more than the mandatory two for a rookie - and team principal Ayao Komatsu has not shied away from making his admiration for the teenager known.

While Bearman will be delighted with the news, Kevin Magnussen will not. The Dane is fighting to save his F1 career following a dismal start to the year, but with one seat at Haas wrapped up already, time is running out.

One potential candidate to replace Magnussen would be Esteban Ocon, who will be leaving Alpine this winter. “He has got a lot of experience," Komatsu told Sky Sports F1. "He’s race winner, he’s got podium finishes, scored many points and worked with a few different teams.

"So he’s got lots of experience which is what we are looking for but also he’s only 27, he’s still very young. I think his commitment and work ethic is really, really good.

“I’m talking with several of the current F1 drivers, experienced guys, as well as some of the young F1 drivers. So he’s definitely one of the several that I am considering seriously.”
