F1 fans think Charles Leclerc 'jinxed' Max Verstappen as Ferrari star dreams of title

Formula One fans have shared a theory that jinxed , which could lead to the ace winning his maiden Drivers’ Championship title.

Leclerc held his nerve on the narrow streets of to secure a first-ever victory on home soil.

The 26-year-old finished seven seconds ahead of second-placed Oscar Piastri, with Leclerc narrowing the gap at the top of the standings.

He now sits just 31 points behind Verstappen, whose hopes of securing a fourth straight world championship title have hit a roadblock.

Verstappen remains the favourite to take home this year’s championship, but the emergence of Leclerc as a serious contender has whet the appetite of Formula One fans.

What’s more, supporters have shared an interesting theory that Leclerc may have jinxed his Dutch counterpart through the medium of music.

Leclerc, who spends a lot of his spare time playing the piano, is a published musician, with his discography including three songs titled AUS23, MIA23, and MON23 - the abbreviations for the Australian, Miami and Monaco GPs.

Well, eagle-eyed supporters have pointed out that the three song titles also correspond to the only races Verstappen hasn’t won so far this season.

X user @sundghtr took to social media to point this out. They said: “I just want to make a comment here that: all the races that Max Verstappen *didn't* win this year are races that Charles Leclerc wrote songs about (AUS23, MIA23 and MON23).”

The revelation sent social media into somewhat of a frenzy, with @n4claren commenting: “BRO PREDICTING THE FUTURE @Charles_Leclerc ???? EXPLAIN THIS??”

While @LNFOURS responded by saying: “@Charles_Leclerc time to compose a song about each track now.”

And @Louisxsun28 joked: “@Charles_Leclerc mate, I need you to start writing some songs. Here are some names u may want to use: CAN23, AUT23, SIL23, HUN23, BEL23, ITA23, ZAN23, AZE23, SIN23, AUS23, MEX23, BRA23, VEG23, QAT23, ABU23.”

Leclerc will be hoping to continue his strong form when the drivers next convene in Canada, even if the Monte Carlo-born star doesn’t have a song about that race... yet.

Another high-placed finish could see him cut the gap to leader Verstappen even further, with a genuine battle for the title looking like it could be about to unfold.

Following the Monaco Grand Prix, the drivers will break off for one week, before returning in early June at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
