'Bored' Max Verstappen produces priceless radio message during Monaco GP
Max Verstappen was struggling to stay awake during the opening stages of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen expressed that he was finding the Monaco Grand Prix 'really boring' on Sunday. The Red Bull star was stuck behind Mercedes' George Russell, who was deliberately driving off the pace to conserve his tyres.
Despite having the pace to drive as many as three seconds per lap faster than Russell in front, there was nothing that the Dutchman could do after being left in P6 following a miserable qualifying session.
Chatting with race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase, Verstappen stressed: "F*** me, this is really boring. Should have brought my pillow."
Verstappen was aware heading into the weekend that he was facing a frustrating time. "We know it's a long race," he told Sky Sports F1. "Normally around here, you have to be patient. Maybe the race comes to you, maybe not, we have to be open-minded.
"It's one race weekend. Of course, you would always like to win Monaco. For us now it's about scoring as many points as we can then move on."

Verstappen's weekend was scuppered on Saturday as he struggled to extract pace from the RB20 as it lost time over the rough kerbs and bumps of the Monte Carlo streets.
A crash at Sainte-Devote on his final lap in Q3 allowed the likes of Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris and Russell to leapfrog him, all but ending his hopes of securing a podium finish in the Grand Prix.

Unfortunately for Verstappen's Red Bull team-mate, he didn't even get the luxury of being bored within the cockpit. Sergio Perez was sent hurtling into the Armco barriers on the exit of Beau Rivage following contact with Kevin Magnussen on lap one.
Perez's RB20 was destroyed in the crash, which also collected Magnussen's Haas colleague Nico Hulkenberg. The Mexican was left fighting at the rear of the field following a Q1 exit for the second year in succession.
